Experience
- Before joining Parade, Alani was a full-time freelance journalist, writing features about pop culture, entertainment, travel and more for The Daily Beast, The Chicago Reader, Static Media (NickiSwift & Glam), 1883 and INTO. She was also selected as a member of the Sundance Institute's Press Inclusion Initiative, allowing her to cover the 2023 Sundance Film Festival in-person. Her film reviews appeared on The Playlist.
- Prior to that, Alani was a staff writer for Netflix's companion site, Tudum.
- She's also an active member of GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics.
- Alani worked as an intern for Bustle and Elite Daily before graduating college in 2018. After receiving her bachelor's in journalism, she was an entertainment reporter for Bustle and a freelance writer for The A.V. Club, Insider, Vogue.com, PopSugar and Bitch, covering pop culture, TV, Star Wars, horror, travel, sex & relationships, wellness and more.
