A new poll confirms what most of us already knew: Americans love their pets. And it isn't just furry babies we love. We also love our feathered friends, leathery lizards and fun-to-watch fish. So if you're looking for the best gifts for dogs and cats, here you go!
When asked about holiday spending in a Saint Leo University survey, those polled responded that they expected to spend, on average, a little more than $237 on pet presents. Just two years ago, the same poll found pet owners projecting they would spend just shy of $100 on pet presents. What a huge increase!
Here at Parade.com, we're all about sharing products we love with our audience. When you make a purchase on an item seen on this page, we may earn a commission, however all picks are independently chosen unless otherwise mentioned.
“The spenders, called ‘pet parents,' are individuals who treat their four-legged friends as if they are actually family members,” says Keith Jones, PhD, associate professor of marketing at Saint Leo University. Jones has been following the pet industry for a decade. “As a result, people continue to spend on their pets at holidays in a similar manner as to how they spend on their actual family members.”
