Massive 32-Pound Maine Coon Cat Is Legitimately the Size of a Toddler
In my experience as a cat mom, I'm only familiar with kitties of the smaller variety — and by smaller, I mean typical shorthair adult cat size. Nobody in my household is over 10 pounds, and they're easily carried around the house... even by my toddler, who counts both of our cats among her best friends even if the feeling is not always mutual. But there are some big cats out there, and I'm not talking about tigers. There are actual domestic cats living in people's homes whose size would blow your mind.
This video on TikTok is basically exhibit A. One cat mom showed off her giant cat, and let's just say that not only would my toddler not be able to carry this feline around, but I'm pretty sure this cat is bigger than she is!
In this video that @sassykoonz shared on Wednesday, April 10, she responded to a prompt from a man asking TikTokers to "show me your massive cat," and boy, did she deliver!
According to her caption, the white Maine Coon cat in this video is a whopping 32 pounds — that's a lot to love.
Of course, commenters were astounded by the cat's size and were full of jokes. Some people compared kitty to a mountain lion, and others joked that a cat this large actually qualifies as a tax deduction. (If he doesn't, he should... imagine how much it must cost to keep this guy fed!)
"You can't just have a yeti roaming your house, ma'am," one person wrote.
It's probably safe to say that this cat has won over a lot of new fans. I wish I could give him a big hug!
How Big Can Maine Coon Cats Get?
It's so jarring to see a cat this large that it definitely has me wondering if this is typical of the breed, or if this cat is just that special.
Maine Coon cats are actually known as one the largest cat breeds, and on average, fully grown. males will weigh between 18-22 pounds, while females will weigh around 12-15 pounds as adults. Considering the fact that most breeds of house cats won't get any larger than 12 pounds, it makes sense that these cats seem especially big. Not only do they weigh more than most other cats, but they are also longer, like the one in this video.
Their size doesn't mean that they should intimidate you, though. As Catster has pointed out, Maine Coons are also known for being gentle kitties, so they'll probably just want to love on you as any cat would.
The big guy in this video must be so cozy to cuddle with!
