Australian Shepherd Stops New Yorkers in Their Tracks with Spot-On Siren Howls
An Australian Shepherd showed off its interesting and unique skill, and people stopped on the streets to take a look.
On June 3, 2024, TikTok user Matty and Kaido (@MattyandKaido) shared a video of the cute Australian Shepherd not only riding a bike but pretending to be a siren. Take a look!
In a 30-second video clip shared on TikTok, we meet Kaido, an Australian Shepherd dog with a really cool trick.
Kaido is out with his human parent, who is riding a bicyle in the city with the cute dog strapped to his back. That alone would be enough reason to get a crowd of people to look over at you. Kaido isn't necessariyl the smallest doggy and yet he seems to fit perfeclty in a backpack on his dad's back while riding behind him on a bicycle.
But Kaido is getting attention for another reason--his unique ability to mimic a siren.
While he's riding with his dad, who is holding a selfie stick, they and a few other cyclists and cars are stopped on the street, and you can hear some sirens in the background. It's unclear if they're ambulances we hear in the distance or if it's fire trucks, police, or something else. But you can definitely hear them.
You can hear something else, too. Kaido tilts his head back and snouts toward the sky because he's busily howling back at the sirens and sounds exactly like them.
It takes a minute before you realize that he's joining in the sound, too.
And, of course, it catches people's attention.
The video's caption reads, "Kaido bringing in an audience." In the comments, people praised the dog for his unique skill.
"My dog does the same thing," one person shared.
"This video has my dog tilting his head at my phone," someone else shared.
"New backpack bing," another joked.
"Kaido said, 'I got this, dad,'" another added, including some siren emojis.
He was born to be a wolf," someone else added.
What Temperament Does an Australian Shepherd Have?
This dog, Kaido, has to be either the most chill dog to happily ride in a backpack while riding a bicycle, or this breed has to have a very laid-back attitude in general. Otherwise, it's hard to imagine a dog being this happy to sit back and enjoy the ride literally.
According to Hill's Pet, Australian Shepherds are just really chill pups.
"Aussies are active yet easy-going dogs that love to romp with children. They tend to get along well with other pets," the site explains. "The breed is considered highly intelligent and easy to train. Aussies are known for being especially eager to please their owners."
Since these dogs are historically herding dogs, they are "very protective of their families and territory and will let you know if strangers approach, but they are not considered aggressive," which is probably why Kaido is happy in the crowds as well.
These dogs do love their exercise, which is important to know if you're thining about getting an Australian Shepherd for your family. Also, they can weigh between 40 to 65 pounds, with male dogs typically in the heavier weights, so if you can carry one in your backpack and pedal around the city, more power to you!
