Reese Witherspoon's Daughter Ava Gives Sweetest Shout Out to Her Rescue Dog

Benji is too cute!

As someone who loves all things celebrity gossip and all things involving cute pets, few things please me more than when stars show off their four-legged family members on social media. It doesn't matter if it's Dave Portnoy's pup, Miss Peaches, or Taylor Swift's trio of cats, I am always down for an update on my favorite stars' animals — just like I am when my own friends and family share pictures of theirs. There is no such thing as too many dog and cat photos on my social media feeds, for the record.

And now, Reese Witherspoon's 25-year-old daughter, Ava Phillippe, is sharing a very sweet update on her rescue dog, Benji: They're celebrating four years together, and this sweet boy is just as adorable as the day she brought him home.

Over the weekend, Ava took to her Instagram account to show off her pup in honor of his gotcha day.

Posing with her dog on what looks to be the top of a mountain overlooking the city below, Ava wrote, "four years in the books...forever my Benji."

She looks so happy here, but with a dog this cute in her life, I can't imagine how she wouldn't be!

In the comments, Ava shared a little more about Benji's breed when one follower asked her — he's a mutt, as some of the best dogs are! "Benji is ¾ Border Collie with a little bit of Australian Kelpie— so yes, he's very intelligent & athletic," she wrote.

Ava & Benji's Four Year Journey Together

As Ava explained when she adopted Benji from Best Friends Animal Society in Utah back in October 2024, he came into her life on a really hard day for her family: Coincidentally, the same day that they said goodbye to their French Bulldog, Pepper, who had been battling an aggressive cancer

Even though it was a difficult time, Ava had no problem recognizing her new pup's beautiful personality, as she shared in her caption the first time she posted a picture of her new friend on Instagram.

"He loves to cuddle and meet new friends (human & canine) and has quickly adjusted to life in his new home environment," she wrote. "Benji also enjoys squeaky toys, outdoor adventures, and anything he is allowed (or not allowed) to eat."

Sounds like Benji was a blast from day one — and as she shared in another post two years in, it was "love at first belly rub."

"Everything I give him, whether it be energy, patience, love, etc., Benji gives back to me in his own unique way, and I’m so proud of how far we’ve come since day one," she wrote at the time.

It sounds like Ava and Benji have been so happy together. I can't wait to see what adventures they get up to next!
