Baby Kangaroo Makes the Funniest Little Sounds and People Are Having a Field Day

When we think about the animal world and all the species it in, we quickly realize how little we really know about some of the most iconic animals. Like, have you ever wondered what sound a kangaroo makes? Have you ever heard one?

On TikTok, the Kangala Wildlife Rescue (@kangala_rescue) shares videos of the Kangaroos they care for and in a recent one we get to hear a baby kangaroo. It’s worth a listen!

“What does a baby kangaroo sound like?” the text on the video reads. In the video, we meet a baby kangaroo who makes the cutest and strangest sound.

"Can I help you sir? Can I help you?” the worker says behind the camera. “I know you're saying excuse me, don't forget me I'm not forgetting you baby. You're next I could never forget you cause you never let me.”

The sound from the baby kangaroo is an interesting one — it sounds like someone blowing their nose or a strange, broken car horn. It’s a very distinct sound, and loud enough that they’ll definitely be heard by anyone who is nearby.

It’s a funny sound, and it’s adorable, but as the wildlife rescue center describes in the caption, this sound we hear is usually a cry for help.

“Baby kangaroos generally make two types of sounds,” the caption reads. “This sound here is usually made when a baby joey is calling out for his Mumma.”

The wildlife rescue center, unfortunately, hears this cry a lot. “Sadly we hear this heartbreaking call after they are rescued for a few days as they just don’t understand what’s happened & they miss their Mother’s terribly,” the caption adds. “In this case he is calling out to me for comfort and his bottle, as I’ve now taken on that role.”

Another sound commonly heard from kangaroos is when they do a “short clicking” which the center explains “usually means stay away or danger is nearby.”

While the sound like this from a baby kangaroo is usually sad, there’s no denying that it’s a strange and funny sound, which is what the people in the comment section joked about.

"Sounds like a smokers cough," one viewer teased.

"Me when I swallow a dorito wrong," one person wrote.

"That’s a low key velociraptor squawk," joked another.

"I was not expecting that," someone admitted.

"That is the most uncutest sound a baby-anything has made since ever!!!" another person joked.
