Bernese Mountain Dog Busts Out of the House to 'Chill on Lawn' and Family Can't Stop Laughing
There's nothing quite like a little fresh air and sunshine on your face in the middle of the day for an instant mood boost. A Bernese Mountain Dog named Cash completely agrees, which is why he found exactly that while his family was gone.
On June 12, 2024, a TikTok user by the name @natmdepersia shared the hilarious moment she and her brother returned home to find Cash had let himself out on his own. Watch their reaction and Cash's expression below!
"My brother & I went to get food and we came back to the house with the front door wide opened and our dog, Cash, vibing on the lawn by himself. He knows his life is too good to run away," the caption reads. In the 25-second clip, a brother and sister duo are in stitches over the sight they see while pulling into the family driveway. After a shot of their faces, the camera pans onto the lawn where a chill Cash is casually hanging out, giving them a look as if to say, "it's about time you came back."
The next angle shows the front door, which has been pushed open, and then another look at Cash and his guiltless face. This dog needed some outdoor time and he wasn't about to wait for it!
"He’s literally like “so did u pick up my order or what,” one person commented. "Cash knows better than to leave his lavish life," another wrote. "Cash is not for the streets," another added, and many others agreed.
What Should You Do If Your Dog Escapes?
Thankfully, Cash didn't go far once he made the great escape, but it's not uncommon for some to use any opportunity to take off and start a new life. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) say that depending on the reason, there are a few things you can do to prevent losing your furry pal.
For the frustrated or isolated pups, the org recommends regular walks, teaching them a few tricks, offering plenty of toys, and keeping them inside when you're away (a rule Cash was determined to break!). The dogs with separation anxiety may benefit from "counter-conditioning and desensitization techniques."
To prevent your epic escape artist from leaving in the first place, HSUS says good foundational training is key adding, "Only correct your dog if you can administer correction at the moment your dog is escaping, and only if they don’t associate the correction with you."
That said, steadfast Cash looked pretty proud of himself for figuring out the door, so it'll be interesting to see if he busts out for private lawn time again. For now, his family will probably check and double check the door is tightly latched before ever leaving Cash again!
