Bulldog Stubbornly Clinging to Bed Perfectly Captures the Essence of Monday Blues
Getting up in the morning is so hard to do if you're not a morning person. Personally, I have a much better day if I get started early, but it doesn't mean I enjoy doing it! It's so hard to leave your nice, warm bed to get going for the day, knowing you won't get to sleep again for hours and hours. And while many dogs are ready to jump out of bed and get their day started as early as possible, there are some dogs out there who are just not morning dogs... including the Bulldog in this Instagram Reel below.
And while I would totally understand any dog not wanting to get up in the morning, I really get It when it comes to the one featured here. She has an actual human bed to sleep in that's all her own, so why would she ever want to leave it?!
This video comes to us from @nybulldogsisters, who showed what happened when they tried to wake up their Bulldog pup, Phoebe, in the morning. Let's just say Phoebe is me every week when Monday rolls around!
We can see Phoebe's dad entering her room (yes, her room) to start the day only to find that she is still totally passed out in her bed. And even while her dad is trying to talk to her, she's still barely hanging onto consciousness. Somebody get this woman a coffee stat.
To be fair, though, anyone would struggle getting out of a setup like that. Phoebe has her own legit bed with blankets and a pillow, and even an initial "P" hanging over it. She sleeps in style, as she should.
Plenty of commenters could totally relate to Phoebe, too. One person wrote, "You take all the time you need sweetheart. I’d sleep until 12 if I could get away with it."
Just let the lady sleep!
Dogs Have Interesting Morning Habits
Dogs need more sleep than humans do on a daily basis — especially those who belong to the Bulldog breed, who sleep around 12-14 hours a day. Since they are brachycephalic dogs, their short noses make it hard for them to breathe, so just going about their daily routines can really take it
Many dog parents also deal with the opposite issue: Pups who don't sleep a lot and try to wake their humans up at the crack of dawn every single day!
To foster healthy sleep habits, the American Kennel Club (AKC) recommends making sure your dog gets plenty of exercise each day so they'll be tired enough to sleep a bit longer at night. You can also ensure your dog has a solid sleep environment that will encourage plenty of rest by keeping the area dark and quiet.
In the end, just like people, all dogs are different. Some are going to love mornings, and some aren't going to be into it... but unlike humans, they have the option of napping whenever they want. That must be the life!
