Cat Siblings' Special Moment While Bird Watching Is Giving People the Feels
Older siblings play a special role in a younger sibling's life. From a teacher to protector, supporter to supervisor and beyond, their jobs are truly never done. And to some degree, the same can be said in the world of animals.
Take the cat siblings in this adorable video below, for instance, and the loving caress this older brother (Dash) offers his sister (Pearl) while watching birds. It might just be a sweet little gesture, but it's hard to argue that these two don't love each other. And the way she gently blinks as he does it... you just have to see this!
Personally, I paused the video while he put his arm around her, just to get a better look at this sweet little moment, and let me just say—this is a framer! It's just so adorable when our pets do things like this, whether they realize it or not. Honestly, this whole situation was already pretty heartwarming, just seeing them both so focused on the birds outside. Let's just say there's no shortage of cuteness to be found in this charming little clip, that's for sure.
Both of these cats are so darn pretty, too, which only makes this precious moment that much more special. These two are absolute BFFs and seeing them bond like this has my heart full. And while similar moments like this certainly exist in households across the country, they can be few and far between at times. Just like any animal can have a problem with any other (for seemingly no apparent reason), cats are no exception.
Introducing New Cats to Each Other
Introducing any new pet to the family can be tricky, but it's definitely not impossible. But when it comes to introducing a new cat to your current cat, you just have to practice patience and stay optimistic, as it can take a little longer than many pet parents would ever expect.
That said, some cats instantly bond almost as if they've known each other their entire lives, which can be a real treat. Every scenario is going to be different, but the effort is well worth it every time.
The introduction should be very slow, to say the least. There's really no rush. (Again, patience!) And be prepared to attempt these introductions for, at times, months and months. It can truly take some effort for cats to genuinely befriend each other, and sometimes, they never do!
However, in some cases, they can learn how to simply coexist and basically leave each other alone. But other times, they can turn into enemies (for whatever reason), which usually means it's time to reevaluate the situation as a whole.
Regardless, first impressions are so important, as their moods during that initial greeting could very well be a look at what to expect in the future (for better or worse). So unless you're absolutely ready to make this call, leaving them separated initially is a great idea.
Depending on how the intros go, it is important to eventually let the cats see a bit more of each other and even spend a little time together, if neither are acting too aggressive. They're as curious as they are direct, you could say, so they won't be afraid to let you know their vibe pretty early on. Just be sure to monitor the situation closely.
Additionally, if there are multiple cats to be introduced to, making sure you provide plenty of places for your cats to hide and retreat to on their own is very important, too. It can simply be a lot to take in.
Point is, let them move at their own pace, and with some training and patience, you too could very well have a few BFFs on your hand like we saw in this sweet video.
