Charming Golden Retriever Lounging in Store Doorway Brings Smiles to All Who Pass By

There has never been a single moment in my life when I've been out and about, running my errands, and been unhappy to see a dog. Anytime I get to see a dog when I'm not expecting to see a dog (heck, and anytime I see a dog when I am expecting it), it totally makes my day. I love when local businesses bring their pets in to hang out at their shops during the day, and I am guilty of spending much longer than I planned in a bookstore before simply because they had a cat who I was dying to win over.

It seems that feeling is shared by plenty of people all around the world, if this video taken in France is any indication. People walking by this store just couldn't help themselves when they saw a gorgeous Golden Retriever lounging near the entrance. Talk about a an effective way to drum up business! 

On Sunday, October 20, French furniture store @nomad_cognac_ shared what happened when people walked by the shop's open doors and discovered that a beautiful Golden Retriever (who is very adorably named Philbert) was hanging out just inside. 

Some people just stopped and admired how cute he is (how could you not?) while others decided to come inside and pet him, which he happily welcomed. 

The caption of the video is written in French, but translated to English, it reads, "I promise, petting is free." 

In the comments, people from all over the world are falling in love with Philbert, who is also referred to as Phi Phi by his parents. One person wrote, "If a store has a Golden Retriever, I’m going inside and buying something even if I don’t need it." A very valid stance to take! 

More About the Nomad Shop Dog 

Philbert was introduced to the shop's followers back when it opened in November 2023, and he already seemed to be making himself right at home at the shop! He certainly does make their rugs look good! 

In this Instagram post from the shop, you can see how Philbert has no problems running around the store and hanging out under tables as his parents try to show off the carpets they have for sale in the store. He's an amazing model. 

If you ever happen to be in France and want to meet Philbert yourself, the store is located in Cognac. Something tells me he would be very glad to see you if you were willing to stop for a petting break.

Since I have a feeling that Phi Phi is paid in pets and cuddles, I would like to recommend that he be given a raise. He's doing such a great job!
