Pint-Sized Chihuahua Wins Halloween with 'Bob' from 'Beetlejuice' Costume

This is totally epic!

There are a lot of very valid reasons to love the Halloween season. The weather starts cooling off, the leaves are crunchy, and it's the best time to kick back with a pumpkin spice latte and watch Hocus Pocus. (And, of course, you cannot forget buying bags of candy on clearance on November 1 — wait, is that just me?) But as a pet parent and animal lover, one of my absolute favorite parts of Halloween is being able to dress up my pup and see animals in costume, too. Honestly, is there anything cuter?

While just about any costume on a pet is going to bring a smile to so many people's faces, it's so much fun to see the creativity that many of their parents have in coming up with those costumes. And truly, I think it's going to be hard to top the one the Chihuahua in the video below is wearing!

On Saturday, October 19, photojournalist @mickmicknyc shared a video showing off some of the most inspired canine costumes at this year's Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade in New York City, but he really led with the best one: This adorable Chihuahua pup who took all of this year's hype around the Beetlejuice sequel and really ran with it!

Sitting in a wheelchair, the pup in question is dressed as Bob from the movie — the character with the blue, shrunken head who worked for Beetlejuice. The Chihuahua's tiny head was perfect for the costume, so is it really any wonder that so many people were gathered around, taking photos of this icon?

I rank this one a 10/10, absolutely no notes, and commenters on the video certainly seem to agree. So many people praised this dog's parents for a job well done, with one person calling it "legitimately one of the funniest costume ideas I've seen in a very long time."

More About the Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade

If you watch the whole video, you'll know that while Bob was the star of the show, the parade also featured plenty of dogs in seriously impressive costumes. The pup dressed as the dog from the "this is fine" meme deserves some sort of prize!

There's a reason that dog parents truly do go all out on these costumes: This parade is a very big deal. It's a free event, and the parade route is published ahead of time, so you can grab a good place to stand and get a view of all of the amazing pups along the route. At this point, the date for next year's event hasn't been announced yet, but you can keep up with the Instagram account where that information will be shared here

If you're close enough to get to NYC and are as obsessed with these dogs in their costumes as I am, it might be worth planning to be there for next year's event, whether you want to dress up your own pup and bring them along or not. It seems like such a fun atmosphere.

But even if you're not local, it might still be worth the trip out. After all, NYC is pretty gorgeous in the fall, and who's going to turn down the chance to see dogs in costume like this, all in one place?
