Cockatoo Takes Trip to Starbucks for a Cup of Tea Like a True Regular
There's nothing like a quick Starbucks run in the middle of a ho-hum day to invigorate the soul. Sweet Pea the Cockatoo agrees, which is why her mom takes her along and treats the bird to her favorite refreshing beverage.
On June 14, 2024, Wendy Albright—also known as The Parrot Lady (@theparrotlady)— shared a funny video on TikTok showing Sweet Pea riding with Mom to get her "Starbies" order. Watch the video below!
In the clip captioned, "Taking my parrot to Starbucks," Albright pulls up to the Starbucks drive-thru menu to order a small "peach tranquility" while Sweet Pea happily stands on the steering wheel. When Mom drives to the pay window, the curious Cockatoo hops onto Albright's arm to greet the workers making it clear she's done this before!
"Are you getting your tea?" Albright asks Sweet Pea. "Can you say 'thank you?'" When they return home, Albright pours the hot tea into a mug, adding ice cubes to cool it off before handing the drink to a thirsty Sweet Pea. The whole scene is cuteness overload!
"Sweet Pea is living her best life," one person commented. "So cute and adorable," another wrote. "Bro's living his best life," another joked.
Is It Safe to Drive With Your Cockatoo?
While driving your bird to Starbucks may not be the most common thing that happens, it's important to take safety precautions when transporting them anywhere. According to VCA Animal Hospitals, placing your Cockatoo in a small cage is ideal, and can be made better if perches and food cups are included.
Also be sure to remove and toys or swings to prevent injury of the drive is a longer one. They also note if the trip is a short jaunt to the vet (or somewhere similar), a cage can be replaced with a cardboard box with ventilation holes cut in the top.
Some birds aren't used to being out of the house and may become stressed, so take care to provide a safe, comfortable space in the car. And, while Sweet Pea is a cutie who needs her special tea, it's never recommended they roam freely while driving in the event an accident or sudden event happens.
Luckily for an old traveling pro like Sweet Pea, hitting a drive-thru cage-free doesn't seem to be an issue. It may be just tea to some, but this to this Cockatoo, her Starbucks drink is necessary for living her best life!
