Dachshund Puppy's Protest Over Mom Saying 'No' Is Impossible to Argue With

No one could possibly resist her!

Dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities. You might have one quiet and sweet dog, while another living in the same home may be more outgoing and vocal—just ask little Pickle the Dachshund who doesn't appreciate being told "no" and isn't afraid to tell Mom all about it!

On June 6, 2024, Pickle's mom (@adognamedpickle2) posted the funny video on TikTok showing how sassy Pickle gets when she's not allowed to do something. Watch below for all the attitude!

She doesn't have "Sassy pup here for a good time," written in her bio for no reason! "Mad she's not allowed to chew on power cords. How is she sooo sassy at 3 months?? Send help" the writing on the clips says. Mom, who's determined to teach Pickle the rules of the house, is tested when Pickle "talks back" to being told "no."

The short 24-second clip is a hilarious power struggle with no real ending in sight! Pickle may be small, but she's the one running things!

Of the more than 300 comments, many noted that Dachshunds seem to rule in the category of sassiness. "So cute sassy furbaby," one person wrote. "'Straight to jail' my puppy did the same thing a couple months ago. Now she is in her terrible teenager phase dachshunds so sassy!" another said. "Honey, Doxies always get the last word! It’s a Doxie thing!" another joked.

What Is the Typical Temperament Of Dachshunds?

In general, Dachshunds are trainable with the right methods, but they can be very vocal when they disagree (like Pickle) because they're sensitive and will not react well to harsh commands or punishment. The American Kennel Club notes they're bred "to be an independent hunter of dangerous prey," but they can be "brave to the point of rashness, and a bit stubborn."

Though intelligent, their independent nature and stubbornness can make training challenging at times. "They love to give and receive affection and do best with positive, reward-based training," the site says, adding that, just like with most dogs, patience and consistency are key. And as always, lead with love.

Personality obviously depends on your individual dog, so take these standard traits with a grain of salt. If you happen to have a puppy like Pickle, let him or her say their peace or have their temper tantrum, then find a solid training plan to show them a better way to communicate. After all, this is their world—we just exist in it!
