Dachshund Throws Cutest Tantrum After Mom Tells Him 'Not to Wake the Baby'

He just wants to play!

Bringing a new puppy home is always such an exciting time — both for the humans in your household and any other pets who might already live with you. In some cases, it can be a rough adjustment period, but in others, your adult dog will be just as pumped to welcome a new friend as you are. The only problem? That might mean that they simply will not leave the new baby alone, which can end up being a bit of a problem if they don't get the space and rest that little ones need so early in their lives as they're growing!

I can identify with wanting your puppy to wake up and play, though, no matter how adorable they look when they're sleeping... and it seems like the Dachshund in this video knows that feeling all too well himself. At least, well enough to throw a next level tantrum after his mom lays down the law.

On Thursday, October 17, @teenieweenie.finn shared this video of what happened when her Dachshund pup, Finn, refused to follow directions when he was right next to his new little sister, Penny, a Dachshund puppy, who was fast asleep on the couch.

"POV your puppy is throwing a tantrum because you told him not to wake the new baby," Finn's mom wrote in the video.

Sure enough, there's Finn, flipping his tail around and shooting his mom some side eye so she knows he's not happy about obeying her rules. He rolled over and showed her his belly, and when that tactic didn't work, he kicked his mom. Bad boy, Finn!

As if that wasn't bad enough, by the end, Finn was fed up enough that he kicked his baby sister, too. But Penny must have been absolutely exhausted, because that girl did not wake up.

If I didn't know better, I'd think that Finn was a human child. My kid throws tantrums like this too... but then again, so does my dog.

Finn & Penny's Adventures

There's a reason why Finn is throwing so many tantrums: He's just a baby himself! His mom adopted him as a puppy back in February, so he and his baby sister aren't too far apart in age. That might be why he doesn't quite understand why she needs so much sleep!

Penny, who is eight weeks old, joined the crew this month, so she's still brand new to Finn — another reason why it makes sense that he's so excited around her.

And when she's awake, they seem to be getting along just fine. Look how adorable these two siblings are playing tug of war together. She might be brand new to the world, but this girl can really hold her own.

As Penny continues to grow, I have a feeling she'll be willing to kick Finn's butt if he wakes her again. But until then, I hope this little one gets some rest so she can grow big and strong! (Well, as big as a Dachshund can get...)
