Doberman's Protest Over Dad's Attempt to Work From Home Is So On-Brand

He won't be ignored.

It wasn’t long ago when our dogs were alone for 8 to 10 hours a day when we left to go to work. However, technology has enabled many of us to work from home. This means modern canines have come to expect constant companionship from their parents.

Even though we may spend more time together than we ever could with our past pups, some want even more. Although they may be coworkers with boundary issues, their presence is hard to beat.

Check out this video from June 10 to see how this darling Doberman presents his dad with a daily challenge.

While Dobermans are often thought of as potentially aggressive protectors of their kingdoms, as Charles (@rubydooby_do) shows us, that isn’t usually the case. Much like Rottweilers, Shepherds, and Pit Bulls, these misunderstood dogs are more interested in getting love and snacks from their humans. Bruce’s goal is to get as close to his father as possible, and he does his best to make it happen.

The Reality of Working at Home With a Velcro Dog

At first, we don’t see Bruce, but we can hear his little whines. As Charles points out, when he doesn’t get what he wants, the whines turn into a “Piercing bark.” This, of course, is accompanied by those sad airplane ears. If this is still unsuccessful, Bruce will take a more paws-on approach and put his beautiful head on Dad’s arms as he types. Lol! If this proves futile, he'll combine his big, sad eyes with the whining. Then, if all else fails, he’ll pull out the big guns and jump on Dad’s lap while kissing his face and giving hugs. This power play helps him achieve his objective and get his desperately desired attention. Yep, it’s difficult to say no to that much sweetness. My little one will use both paws to pull my arms away from the computer. While she may be small, she is mighty and unafraid to dig in those claws. Even though our pups may each have their own style, they all know how to accomplish their goals.

Dog parents understood this common scenario well. One person shared, “Every single day! This exact thing happens in my house! The work-from-home struggle. They are ruthless with that snout! My Dobergirl is aggressive with hers. She’s learned how to poke it right into my kidney.” Ouch! Viewer @tipdogsmomma remarked, “Nailed it! They are all alike!” It’s so true. Viewer @lookbetterwithage responded, “Lol, try working with a Chihuahua that knows he can squeeze into your chair behind you. He is comfortable while you are feeling awkward.” They know that our love for them has no bounds.

Although we made jokes about the struggle of working at home with our dogs, few things in life are better. They are the only coworkers we can endlessly kiss and hug without being reported to HR.
