Doodle Mom Shares Brilliant Hack for Removing Stubborn Fur Snowballs & It Works Like a Charm
As the season’s first flakes fall from the sky, they transform our surroundings into a winter wonderland. This magical setting also delights our canine companions, who find great joy bounding through the fresh, powdery snow. Yet, with this beauty comes a significant challenge for pet parents.
At the top of the list is the formation of snowballs that stubbornly stick to our dogs’ fur. These icy clumps can cause discomfort and take ages to melt away. Not only do they bother our pups, but they also track in a slushy mess when they come indoors.
Fortunately, one clever mom has devised a simple yet brilliant solution to this seasonal problem. Check out this video from November 9 to see a nifty way to remove them quickly.
This is brilliant! I’m not sure what prompted Luna’a (@luney_doodle) Mom to think of using a whisk to remove these sticky snowballs, but it works like a charm! With only a few fast movements, those snowballs were history. While Doodle or Poodle fur can be extra tricky when it comes to getting tangled, this technique can be used for any pups with longer fur. I wish I had known it when I lived in New England.
4 Tips for Keeping Dogs Safe and Warm in Winter
1. Keep dogs warm using sweaters or jackets, especially senior, short-haired, or small breeds. Always ensure these garments are well-fitted and do not restrict their movement.
3. Limit outdoor time, especially during frigid weather. Taking more frequent but shorter walks can help dogs stay warm and safe.
4. To keep your dog’s paws in great condition, try to limit their exposure to ice melts and salt, as these substances can be harsh on their pads and, in some cases, toxic. According to the AKC, using booties can offer extra winter protection. And if your dog shows signs of irritation, using paw conditioners such as coconut oil can help keep their pads moisturized, prevent cracks, and prevent them from walking around in pain.
People were excited to try this clever method. Viewer @ingoodhandspetloss responded, “This is kinda brilliant!” It is! Viewer @sharonotness shared, “I have a Cocker Spaniel. Love this idea!” It’s a total game-changer. Viewer @pc_kimmoreau reported, “Omg. I have done this with Lucy. It really works.” That’s great to hear!
If Mother Nature delivers a lot of snow, this winter hack will come in handy. Not only does it ensure your dogs remain warm and unstressed, but it also aids in maintaining a clean household—an impressive accomplishment during the winter season.
