Duck Tolling Retriever’s Slight Miscalculation Leads to the Most Hilariously Splendid Splash

She forgot where she was standing!

If you recall your childhood, you likely remember the fun times spent with friends and the excitement of new experiences. However, growing up also comes with its share of challenges. Learning to ride a bike, swim, or make new friends doesn’t always happen easily.

Similarly, dogs also need to learn some of life's essential lessons. One is spatial awareness, which this Duck Tolling Retriever discovered the hard way.

Check out this video shared on November 19 to see this dog discover just how close she was to the water.

Thank goodness this Duck Tolling Retriever was born to be a water dog. Lennon (@littletraveltoller) was so excited about playing with a rock that she forgot she was standing on a dock. However, it didn’t take long for her to remember where she was as she splashed into the cold water. Thankfully, this splendid swimmer didn’t seem upset by her fumble and paddled back toward shore. Except perhaps for a bruised ego, she was no worse for wear. At least this little tumble was captured on camera because if you’re going to fall, you might as well be able to share the laugh with your friends.

What Breeds Are Considered Water Dogs?

According to Wisdom Panel, breeds like Golden and Labrador Retrievers, Portuguese Water dogs, Duck Tolling Retrievers, Poodles, and Newfoundlands are among the most well-known water dogs. These breeds possess specific characteristics that make them well-suited for aquatic environments. These traits often include a good instinct for swimming, webbed feet that enhance propulsion in water, and a coat that either repels water or provides insulation in colder conditions. Additionally, many of these breeds have a natural affinity for retrieving objects from water. As a result, they are commonly employed in activities such as hunting waterfowl, performing water rescue operations, and participating in competitive swimming or dock diving. However, genetics are only one part of the equation, and early life experiences can determine whether a dog enjoys being in the water or not.

People couldn’t help but laugh at this silly misstep. Viewer @ohboistyles defended, “She wanted to go for a swim. Nothing to see here.” That may be the story she prefers to stick to. Viewer @casanova_the_lover remarked, “Haha, this is great, the demanding stomps right into the water.” If you’re to take a fall, you might as well do it with gusto! Viewer @elfie.pomer responded, “When I feel everything is going well in my life.” We’ve all felt this way before.

Hopefully, this lovely girl wasn’t discouraged after her splashy fall. After all, the only thing that really matters is getting up and trying again.
