Video of Famous Corgi Meeting New Puppy After Losing Sister Has People in Tears

It's always exciting to welcome a new puppy into the family, but it can bring up a lot more emotions when the new dog is joining your crew after experiencing the loss of another dog. It's such a bittersweet time filled with joy and a little bit of sadness, wishing your old friend was here to be a part of it all too, and one TikTok managed to capture that feeling in the most epic way.

If you've been following the famous Corgi Hammy, you already know that the family lost their other Corgi, Olivia, last year. Now, they have a new puppy, but of course, they had to introduce her to the world in the most unforgettable way.

On Tuesday, May 14, @hammyandolivia introduced their new baby to the world: an adorable Corgi puppy, which meant their other dog, Hammy, would finally become a big brother.

The video shows someone arriving at Hammy's house with a basket on their arm, though we can't see what's inside (all while the Star Wars theme song is playing to make the video even more dramatic). It's left on the yard, and as soon as Hammy knows something's up, he's off and running toward the open front door to find out what it is. 

But before he and his new baby sister come face to face, an emotional moment plays out on screen: Hammy's dad exchanges a look with the family's late dog, Olivia, using footage from before she passed — she even seems to wink at him to let them know they have her blessing!

When Hammy finally made it outside, the blanket was lifted to reveal a teeny, adorable Corgi puppy whose name is Fiona. OMG! 

More About the Late Olivia

Since Hammy's TikTok account was once shared with Olivia — and has amassed more than six million followers — this video is a particularly sentimental one for those who have been following along with the family for a long time now.

Olivia died less than a year ago, and she was Hammy's BFF (not to mention how clear it was that she was so, so loved by her humans, too). It's even more heartbreaking to know that her passing in November 2023 was sudden; her dad broke down in tears in the video where he explained their family had to say goodbye to Olivia at eight years old after a medical emergency where she was not able to empty her kidneys.

A month later, he shared a tribute to his beloved lost friend on TikTok in honor of her birthday, writing, "I'm left with this overwhelming feeling of appreciation for you. You gave me the greatest gift anyone could have ever given me... and I'll always have today to honor and remember my best friend that gave me so much." 

It sounds like Hammy and his family were so lucky to have Olivia while they did, but it's certainly going to bring them so much joy to get to know Fiona, too. I can't wait to learn more about her!
