Fluffy Orange Maine Coon Cat Sleeping Like a Baby Is the Definition of Chill
There are plenty of times during their waking hours that my cats remind me just how much I love them — usually when they do something funny or set up camp in my office for the day to keep me company while I'm working. But there's really nothing like watching your cat sleep to give you all the warm fuzzies. Maybe it's because they look so sweet and innocent, reminding me of their kitten days, or maybe it's because they're not awake to terrorize the dog. If you are a cat parent who loves watching your feline sleep, you know what I'm talking about.
And if you don't know what I'm talking about, after seeing this footage of a sleeping Maine Coon, you just might. Not only is this a very gorgeous boy, but he looks peaceful in a way that we humans will never be able to attain.
Recently, this orange Maine Coon's mom, Eve, shared this sweet footage on TikTok of her boy catching a nap on the couch. His name is Meatball (of course, why wouldn't it be?) and seeing him from this vantage point — in a video that was clearly taken by someone who loves him — really makes how pretty this boy is obvious. Look at all that fluff!
Meatball is so asleep that he doesn't even realize he's being filmed. I wish I could know how he manages to appear so chill, but I have a feeling it has something to do with being a cat and having no real responsibilities in life. That would do it for me anyway.
Commenters clearly adore this sleeping boy, too. One person wrote, "please tell him I said he was gorgeous and pspspsps." Same. Please pass on a "pspspsps" from me too!
Why Do We Love Watching Our Pets Sleep?
So many people love watching their cats and dogs sleep, so there must be a reason for it other than just admiring how cute they are, right?
Sort of! Spending time watching our pets sleep can lower stress levels, and there are even further benefits of allowing your pets to sleep in bed with you.
According to what Dr. Karen B. London wrote for Kinship, not only will this make your bond and connection to your pet stronger, it also comes with health benefits, especially if you spend some of that time petting your dog. It's proven to lower your blood pressure, and may even mean you sleep better at night.
Basically, watching our kitties snooze (and letting them snooze near us) is a very positive thing, so if this sounds like you, just keep on with what you're doing. Your stress levels will thank you!
