'Hyper' German Shepherd's Transformation After Fostering Kittens Is Absolutely Remarkable

Best kitten nanny ever.

Ask any German Shepherd pet parent and they can tell you, these amazingly intelligent dogs need a job to do. They thrive on using not only their physical strength but also their super smart brains and if they aren't stimulated both mentally and physically they can become unhappy and destructive.

One German Shepherd was described by his owner as being "hyper" until his dog mom had to foster kittens. Just watch what happened when this gorgeous dog decided to step in and take over nanny duties.

The precious video was shared by the TikTok account for @Leo.tiger.nala and people have fallen in love with this entire situation.

One person commented on what they think happened with, "Sometimes they just need someone to focus their protector instincts on." Someone else responded, "A shepherd without a job is a wild card, but give that baby a purpose and they are golden." Another person responded, "Dogs make you more active and cheerful, cats make you calmer and more relaxed. Your dog officially becomes a cat person.."

Tiger is such an amazing dog. Not only is he incredibly gentle and attentive to his kittens, he also provided comfort for them when they needed it most. These fur babies are just too adorable together.

Now, not all dogs are going to be as calm and affectionate as Tiger here, but some dogs welcome caring for other animals, it all depends on your own dog's temperament. But one thing that is true of all dogs, especially German Shepherds, is that they need a lot of mental and physical stimulation to be happy and healthy.

How To Keep a German Shepherd Happy

These smart dogs need a lot of exercise.

German Shepherd mom and German Shepherd foster Sara Hirschfeld explains, "The German Shepherd is a herding dog, so it’s incredibly smart and active with a very strong work ethic. In addition to 1-2 hours of physical exercise a day they also require plenty of mental stimulation. Puzzle toys, agility or obedience classes, and hide and seek all provide great physical and mental exertion and will prevent a Shepherd from engaging in compulsive or destructive behavior."

Or, you could always get them their own litter of kittens to care for!

In all seriousness, exercise your Shepherd a lot, play games with them, challenge them with learning new tricks and obedience commands and walk them frequently. This will keep them happy and healthy and make them a wonderful companion for all the years to come.
