Glen Powell's Adorable Rescue Dog Named Texas Monthly's 'Man of the Year'
He’s such a rockstar.
2024 was a busy year for many reasons. The 2024 Summer Olympics were held in Paris, France. Taylor Swift continued to dominate the charts while on her incredible Eras tour. Oppenheimer ruled the Oscars and we had a historic United States election. It was also the year when we were introduced to Twisters star Glen Powell’s amazingly adorable rescue dog Brisket.
And now Texas Monthly has named Brisket as their “Man of the Year.”
The Texas Monthly article Brisket’s nomination reads in part, “Brisket Powell, who was born in California but got to Texas as soon as he could, was the internet’s summer crush, dazzling fans during a press tour that helped turn Twisters—a film starring his “father,” Glen Powell—into a box office hit.
With soulful brown eyes and feathered blond hair that makes the boyish heartthrobs of yore seem like trolls, Brisket was featured in Entertainment Weekly, regularly written about in People, and landed the cover of Vogue’s canine offshoot, Dogue.”
I think this is an excellent honor to be bestowed upon Brisket. He’s adorable, he’s a cover model, and he certainly has appeared on many a red carpet this year.
In all seriousness, it’s always awesome when a famous person adopts a rescue dog because it puts the spotlight on how many adorable dogs and cats in shelters need forever homes, and when people see that a gorgeous dog like Brisket can be found at a shelter it encourages them to see what sort of pups are available for adoption at their own local shelter or Humane Society.
Congratulations on your award Brisket and we hope to see more of you in 2025!
How To Help Shelter Dogs in Your Area

Here are ways you can help shelter pets in your own community.
You can, of course, foster or adopt a shelter pet. You can make a monetary donation to your local Humane Society or animal rescue. You can drop off donations of pet food, cat litter, cleaning supplies, dog and cat toys, or old blankets and towels to your local animal rescue.
You can surprise your local shelter staff with a box of doughnuts or a delivery of pizza to thank them for all of their selfless work.
You can contact your local shelter and see about taking a dog for a sleepover to help them with kennel stress, you can volunteer to bottle feed kittens, or you can volunteer to walk shelter dogs.
You can sponsor the spaying and neutering of a dog or cat at your local shelter, or hold a car wash, bake sale or yard sale and donate the proceeds to your local shelter.
Whatever you decide to do, with shelters being overcrowded and understaffed, volunteering to help with animals in any way you can is a wonderful way to give back.
