Dad Walks in on Golden Doodle Standing Like a Polite Human Waiting for Treats

That's a grown man!

Golden Doodles are the butt of a lot of jokes recently particularly because of the way they look. They're very human-like; the way they stand, the way they sit, and the way their faces look can all make humans feel a little bit uneasy.

Recently, one dad's Golden Doodle was waiting for him in the kitchen, and the way he was standing was just a little bit creepy:

Dave's Golden Doodle is something else. He's just standing there like, "hey, treats. please?"

All dogs can stand on their back legs, and Sunny is leaning on the counter for support, but that just makes him look even more human to me. Like how men are always leaning on bars in movies! His posture is just so perfect, though, it's a little scary.

There are two possible scenarios here: Sunny got caught when he was about to rob the counter and he had to look busy, or Sunny knows that Dave thinks this pose is cute and hopes it will get him a treat. Regardless, this is definitely not the first time he's posed like this!

Golden Doodles Are Everywhere

Overnight, it feels like, these dogs started popping up by the thousands. Since the Pandemic, they've skyrocketed toward the top of "popular breed" lists. They're thought of by many as the perfect family dog: they're not huge shedders, they're said to be hypoallergenic, and they're famously gentle with kids and other animals. Everyone seems to want one, and it feels like everyone has one!

Unfortunately, Golden Doodles are quickly becoming very over-bred, and they're a common "puppy mill" dog: dogs who are bred in facilities where the bare minimum is provided for them. Typically kept in kennels and re-homed once they no longer serve a breeding purpose, puppy mills are some of the most common stories to hear in rescues.

Golden Doodles are prone to mats, skin conditions, and seizures that can make them kind of hard to care for. Even healthy Golden Doodles require tons of stimulation daily to stay happy and healthy: they're a big breed, and they're half Golden Retriever. Luckily for Sunny and Dave, they seem to have found their perfect match with each other; Dave takes Sunny out to play all the time, and Sunny begs for treats with the posture of a grown businessman just as often. As unsettling as it is, I think the dynamic is perfect for them!
