Dramatic Golden Retriever Pulls Brake on Walk Hilariously Acting Like He's Escaping Danger

Clearly, he's had enough.

Dogs may not have the gift of human speech — at least, not yet — but boy, do they manage to have so much personality anyway. They can say so much by not actually saying anything at all, from the expressions on their faces or the side eye they flash you when you say no to playing outside for the third time that day. Even the tone of their barks tells a whole story! And then, there are their quirky behaviors, which are so unique to each dog... and some are a bit sassier than others.

And if you want to see an example of a dog who really knows how to bring the drama, look no further than the Golden Retriever in the Instagram Reel below. Why let a walk be boring when you could pull a stunt like this?

On Friday, October 25, @joey_how_u_doinnn shared this video of what happened while they were out with their Golden Retriever, Joey, and he simply decided to shut down and end the walk right there and then.

Alongside a clip of Joey being (very gently) dragged down the street on his leash, his human wrote, "My drama dog at the end of every walk looking like he is dragged back into an abusive home hoping for strangers to save him."

Yep, that's exactly what it looks like — what a poor dog. Won't someone save him?!

Commenters with dogs of their own could really identify with this moment. One person wrote, "Ours gets to the front yard and lies flat and just refuses to move. He just wants to watch the neighbors he’s so nosy. He even closes his eyes like we can’t see him."

Sounds like a dramatic dog to me!

Why Does My Dog Lay Down on Walks?

With how many stories people shared in the comments about their dogs who exhibit these behaviors, it seems like laying down during walks is a pretty common thing! But why do they do it, especially when walks are many dogs' favorite things to do?

As pet enthusiast site Yappy points out, there are a few different reasons why this may happen. There are the obvious explanations, like an uncomfortable collar or harness, pain or illness, or simply being tired from all that activity. But outside of that, why do they simply stop walking, lay down, and refuse to move sometimes?

Interestingly enough, they may be taking a break because they don't want the walk to end! They may realize that they're getting closer to home and decide to simply stop walking, because if you're not walking, you're still outside, right?

You can help get them going again by offering treats and making the walk back to the house a fun one — or by building meal time into their routine as happening immediately when they get home after the walk so they know there's something to look forward to.

And of course, there are also some dogs out there who simply get a kick out of pushing their humans' buttons — little trolls. After begging for walks all day, you'd think our dogs would actually want to walk
