Golden Retriever Puppy's First Encounter with a Lemon Is Full of Cute Chaos

He's not impressed!

A playful Golden Retriever puppy had his first encounter with a lemon, and his reaction was something to see.

On May 11, 2024, TikTok user Finn (@ourgoldenboyfinn) shared a video documenting Finn's first time encountering a lemon, which was absolutely hilarious. Take a look!

In a quick 18-second video, Finn, a sweet Golden Retriever puppy, we get to see his reaction to a seeing a sour lemon on the floor.

The video features the adorable and playful Finn, but in this instance, he comes across something he's never seen before on the floor. And in Golden Retriever fashion, he's really curious about what he's looking at.

"What's dis?" the text on the screen reads as the Golden Retriever does the funny head whip while lifting his paw.

"Something new for me?" the text changes as he taps the mysterious yellow thing on the floor.

But his whole attitude changed after he went in for a sniff and a quick taste. He had immediate regret.

"It's terrible," the text read. "Get away."

Finn jumped away, clearly not pleased that he had just taken a lick of a lemon. He couldn't get away from it fast enough.

"Finn’s first run-in with a lemon. Not a fan!" the video's caption read.

In the comments, people were taken by Finn's over-the-top but adorable reaction to the lemon.

"So adorable," one viewer shared.

"Why are Goldens like this?" another questioned

"So dramatic," wrote someone else.

"My dog's name is also Finn, and he reacts this same way to lemons," another added.

"He should be in movies," someone else joked.

"OMG! My Golden does this exact same thing to limes and lemons," someone else shared.

Are Lemons Safe for Dogs?

while the video is adorable and cute, it's probably a good thing that Finn didn't take more than a lick. According to the American Kennel Club, lemons aren't typically something dogs love, and in some cases, they could be dangerous

"While the fleshy part of lemons is not toxic to dogs, this fruit still isn’t something to feed to your dog," the club shares. "If eaten, lemons could make your dog sick. Furthermore, citrus’ sourness is off-putting to most dogs."

But the rinds of lemons can be dangerous. "Lemon juice, which is a more concentrated version of the fruit, contains high amounts of citric acid, which is toxic to dogs," the American Kennel Club warns.

The experts also say that you should keep your pups away from the rinds and skin of lemons, too. "The rinds of lemons contain psoralen, which is also toxic to dogs. If swallowed, lemon rinds could cause gastric obstruction."

They explain that if your dog did eat lemon, rinds or peels, you should get in touch with your veterinarian.
