Golden Retriever Puppy Beams with Pride After First Trip to the Groomer

He's just so handsome!

A beautiful Golden Retriever puppy proudly shows off his new look after his first appointment with the groomer, and it's heart melting.

On May 19, 2024, TikTok user Maverick Bradley (@maverickthegolden) shared a video of him happily showing off after his first groomer appointment. Take a look!

In a cute minute-long video, Maverick shows off his beautiful fur after his first grooming session.

"Good boy," his mom says, "Did you get your haircut today?" As the sweet pup sits there with a big smile, his mama inspects his new look.

"Let me see," she tells Maverick, asking to see his toe beans. "Can I have a paw?"

She inspects the haircut on his feet and declares that he looks "so handsome" and that his fur is soft.

"You are so soft," she tells him. "You're the softest you've ever been, huh?"

The adorable pup is soaking up all the compliments. His mom continues to talk him up, and you can see he has such a sweet smile.

"I think you lost, like, 10 pounds and just floof," she tells him after getting a better look at his whole fur.

She asks the pu if he had a bath, acknowledging that the groomer said he didn't care for his bath. But he may feel that it was worth it because he looks so good.

"Oh, what a handsome guy," his mom shared. "Yes, you are."

In the video's comment section, people agreed that this guy was really cute!

"I really want to know what is he thinking all the time," one person joked since Maverick just sat there and smiled.

"He’s so handsome I’m crying," another person shared.

Another viewer wrote, "Why do I feel like he could solve all my problems?"

And another TikTok user added, "Maverick is one of the most beautiful dogs I have ever seen."

How Often Should You Take Your Golden Retriever to the Groomers?

According to the experts at Espree, a Golden Retriever requires regular bathing and grooming, typically every week, but it waits no more than six weeks.

"With this double-coated breed, regular baths and proper drying sets the foundation to maintaining healthy skin and coat," they explain. "It is essential to select the proper products to match your pet’s skin and coat needs in order to achieve the optimal end result."

You can either bathe and groom your dog yourself or take it to an experienced dog groomer. If you're going to bathe and groom your dog every week, it's likely you'll do that yourself, but even if you're not, there are still some important things to know when it comes to bathing your pup.

"Before bathing a Golden Retriever, take a few extra minutes to take a high-velocity dryer over the coat to loosen the debris and dirt from the skin and to blow out any loose hair," they explain.

From there, you really need to brush your dog's undercoat using a rake or shedding blade. "The more coat you remove before the bath, the better."

After you shampoo and condition your dog's fur, the next important step is to dry it completely.

"There is an art to the blow dry process on a Golden Retriever in order to achieve a nice, straight coat," Espree writes. "One important habit to master is drying the hair in the direction it should lay. Then go over with a comb and a heated dryer to remove any traces of remaining dampness."

Hopefully, your dog will feel as magical as Maverick does after his bath and grooming session!
