Golden Retriever Puppy’s Affection for Favorite Chair Reveals a Heartwarming Secret

This is just too sweet!

It's always interesting to see which spots (or surfaces) around our house our dogs end up adopting as their own. Some will be perfectly happy to curl up in the dog beds we buy them, but others will be more particular with their choices. Maybe there's a spot on the couch that they always sit in, nowhere else, or a chair that has a really good view of the window so they can people watch... and, of course, alert the household that an intruder may possibly be walking by.

For the Golden Retriever in the TikTok video below, it's all about the papasan chair. I totally get it — those chairs look comfy, and hers is a great one. But her parents finally realized why she loves that chair so much? Well, cue the waterworks.

On Monday, October 21, @goldengirlpacha shared this sweet video of their Golden Retriever, Bucket, who they adopted as a puppy back in June, climbing up into the chair that she spends the most time in.

"We started to wonder why Bucket was so obsessed with this one chair," her parents wrote in the video, alongside clips of her enjoying time in the chair, and even sharing it with her big sister, Pacha.

"Then we were watching some puppy videos and remembered something," Bucket's parents continued, before showing a clip of Bucket climbing into the chair with her dad the first time they brought her home (she was so tiny then).

The reason she loves the chair so much: It's the one spot in the house that she loved as a puppy that she can still fit in today.

Is anyone else crying at this or is it just me?

How Dogs Choose Their Favorite Napping Spots

According to Casper, there are a few different things that can draw a dog to keep coming back to one spot to rest over other options in the house.

The first one is scent, which means they'll choose a spot that smells like you, their favorite person, as somewhere they want to stay and feel secure, thanks to their pack instincts.

They will also want to choose a spot that they can "bed down," or arrange or scratch the area to make sure it's prime for sleeping, which calls back to their ancestors digging at the ground to sleep on cooler, drier ground underneath.

And since dogs have always enjoyed sleeping in dens, don't be surprised if their favorite place to snooze happens to be under a table or some other sort of cover. They want to feel cozy and safe!

There's no doubt that there has always been something safe about that chair for Bucket, and that hasn't changed from the days she was tiny and joining a brand new family. And the fact that she can continue napping there, no matter how big she happens to get as she continues to grow? That's just the icing on the cake.
