Golden Retriever Pups 'Bump Into Mom' and Seem to Instantly Recognize Her
An adorable Golden Retriever pup ran into his mom at the beach for the first time since he left for his forever home, and their interaction was so cute.
On March 24, 2024, TikTok user Connlith MagAoidh (@connlith28) shared a video of a recent visit to the beach, during which mama and baby met up again. Take a look!
In a short ten-second video, we're brought to tears watching two dogs interact and have a beautiful bond.
The video starts from the parent's perspective behind the young dog, who is on a lead and walking on the beach.
An older Golden Retriever approaches the little dog, and they seem to know each other well.
And that's because the older dog is the little dog's mom!
The text on the screen reads, "Randomly bumping into their mum on the beach for the first time since they left."
When the two dogs meet, their tails start to wag, and they sniff each other before running around to play.
In the comment section, people have all the feelings watching this adorable clip.
"I hope they can recognize each other their whole lives," one person wrote, adding in several crying emojis.
"She knew that was her baby," another shared.
"The cutest pair," another shared.
"They knew each other," someone else added.
In the comments, Connlith shared that these two see each other and their other litter mates.
"All the pups are in [the] same hometown as the mum and see each other often," he shared.
Do Adult Dogs Recognize Their Mom, or Do Mom Recognize Their Adult Babies?
This video is super cute because we don't often hear about whether dogs still have that bond with their mom or with their babies when they're older and no longer in the same household. And it's hard to ignore that these two really look like they knew each other, and still had that bond.
But is that typical? According to Dogs Today Magazine, this all depends on how long the mom and baby were together. They say the longer the two were together, the stronger and longer that bond will carry them.
"If the pups are able to stay with the dams (the mother) for the first 12-16 weeks of their lives, it's likely they will remember their mum into adulthood, maybe even further than that," the magazine shares.
"The longer they stay together, the better the odds of them recognizing one another are."
According to the magazine, these two dogs are showing signs that dogs recognize each other in the video that's captured our hearts.
"Signs dogs recognize their relatives can often include playful nuzzling, sniffing each other’s faces and mouths, and circling with friendly body languages such as play bows, tail wags, and small barks," Dogs Today Magazine writes.
"If dogs used to play or interact in a certain way previously, they will often revert straight to this upon meeting again."
