Gorgeous Brown Ragdoll Cat Looks Like a Cinnamon Spice Dream

Now that I’ve seen Bubba, he’s all I can think about. That face! Those piercing eyes! That delicious shade of brown! Like one viewer said, “He looks like he smells good.” Just let me hold him!

Bubba is a total stunner. His mink-like coat is exactly what I want to snuggle with on a cozy fall day. And judging by the comments on his account, many of his adoring fans want the same.

“How do I find my Bubba?” asks one.

“Awwww, just so precious. I would spoil him rotten,” says another.

This viewer really ups the ante: “I will sell my soul for this cat.”

I’m not sure that’s necessary, but Bubba certainly is a coveted feline.

How Rare Is a Brown Ragdoll?

Rarer than you’d guess, and in a more interesting way than “unusual color.”

The classic Ragdoll everyone pictures is a pointed cat—pale body, darker face, ears, legs, and tail —and always has blue eyes. The Cat Fanciers’ Association recognizes exactly six point colors: seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, and cream. Cinnamon isn’t on that list. Neither is a cat who’s rich brown from nose to tail.

That’s because Bubba is actually a Cherubim.

Cherubims are purebred Ragdolls carrying non-pointed genetics — same origins, same body type, same silky coat, same famously easygoing temperament, but with full-body color instead of points. The name traces back to the 1960s, when one breeder used “Cherubim” for her gentle indoor cats while calling the solids “Miracle Ragdolls.”

Their coloring falls into a few categories. Mink cats carry one colorpoint gene and one full-color gene. Sepias carry two, which produce the deepest and rarest shades of all. Solids have no point restriction, and any of these can come with lynx, bicolor, or tuxedo patterning layered on top. Calling Bubba cinnamon is deliciously accurate, but not technically so.

The honest answer about Bubba is that he isn’t a rare version of a familiar cat. He’s an exquisite member of a lesser-known category of feline – and in a mesmerizing shade that sounds more like a dessert than a color.
