Vacationing Great Pyrenees Guards Pizza by the Pool for Friends He Just Met
Some dogs are more food-motivated than others, with their astute noses making it easy for them to find treats wherever they go. Many will go out of their way to get a taste, even if that means standing guard for an extended period of time, waiting for permission.
That’s what one Great Pyrenees did while relaxing at the pool on vacation. He may not know who a tasty pizza belongs to, but he’s not letting it out of his sight. He hopes to get a little reward for his protective services in return.
Watch this big boy guarding the goods in this video from April 1.
This pie is under the watchful eye of Ritchie, who is determined to protect it. Despite the brief acquaintance with the pizza owners, he has stood guard over it for nearly 40 minutes. LOL! Ritchie’s mom explains he hopes to make some fast friends who are willing to share their delicious lunch with him. With his 200-pound presence, he can’t go unnoticed, and that’s okay because what’s not to like about a handsome pup who loves pizza? After all, having friends who share your love for food is always great. Even if they are random people hanging out by the pool.
The Great Pyrenees, a Great Protector
The Great Pyrenees breed has a natural instinct to be a watchdog. Their ancestors were specifically bred to guard livestock in the mountains from predators and keep them safe from harm. Although the modern-day Great Pyrenees, like Ritchie, are known for their calm and gentle nature, they would still instinctively protect their family (or even a pizza) if they felt it was necessary.
Ritchie’s love of food entertained his fans. One viewer remarked, “I hope they shared a piece with him. Such a good boy watching over their pizza!” His protective services should have earned him a piece of crust, at the very least. Viewer @colored_bostons kidded, “Everyone knows that after 40 minutes, the pizza is considered abandoned, and hungry doggos can have it.” Good point. He’s just following the rules of etiquette. Viewer @miss_katiebelle responded, “My boy is always convinced that everyone must want to give him love and attention, so he will park himself and wait no matter how far they are away.” Perhaps it’s how they test people and determine friends worth making.
Hopefully, this good boy will be rewarded for his efforts. Unless his mom asked them not to indulge him for the sake of his tummy, it’s hard to imagine anyone not wanting to share with this beautiful pup.
