Labrador Retriever's Funny Way of Letting Mom Know Work Is Over Is Epic

He's so over it!

Working from home comes with its own set of challenges, especially if you're a pet parent with an attention-loving pup. Labrador Retriever Basilian (aka Basil) is among those attention-loving pups, and he's not afraid to let Mom know her work day is over. Done. Finished.

This dog has no qualms about shutting the work day down so Mom can de-stress by petting him. Take a look at his clever method in action!

By the way this interaction goes, it's clear Basil's mom Anna (@basilianbrush) knows the drill. How dare she continue working when the good boy is waiting on pets and snuggles! This is a dog who's very sure about what he wants, whether it's a good cuddle, stealing toast, or the stick he found that Anna used for a craft. Regardless, Basil is teaching Mom all about  work/life balance which basically means no work and all life with him!

The Lab's followers are all in agreement: Basil knows best!

"Basil is the boss, you have to clock off when he says so," one person wrote. "Resting his fingers on the keyboard…. I can’t," another said. "Basil knows best, girl," another added.

As the boss of the house, what Basil says goes, so yep—the work day is over!

Labradors Love Their People...A Lot

Like Basil, Labrador Retrievers are highly intelligent, eager to please, and amazing worker dogs, which is why they're a top choice as therapy or service work dogs (along with Golden Retrievers), but also for families.

Though many know them for being excellent swimmers and the perfect companion to hunters and fisherman (retrieving!), Labs are versatile and intuitive, even among the most chosen breed as guide dogs. There's really nothing they can't do!

One of their best qualities, according to Woof Purnay Veterinary Hospital, is that Labradors are young at heart and don't fully mature until around 3 years old. Known for their zest for life and general enthusiasm for whatever they're into, Labs love their families endlessly, often wanting all their undivided attention. They love love!

Socialization and training are key for keeping things in line, but overall, Labs have a great reputation for a good reason. Look at Basil. He's so in tune with his mom and the stress of her work day, he knows it's time to step in and help her re-focus to something better—something that will bring her joy. And, the only acceptable answer is Basil, of course!
