Magnificent Maine Coons Wow with Their Impressive Training Tricks
Cats can be aloof, making them appear harder to train than dogs. But with a breed like Maine Coons, they can be just as eager to please as a pup. The only downside to teaching these skills might be having a kitty that's smarter than us.
Watch this video shared on June 18 to see these frisky felines showing off their impressive tricks. It's another perfect example of how this majestic breed is not your average cat.
These brothers are happy to work for their favorite food. Rocco (@rocco_and_the_kitty_cats) knows that ringing the bell will help him score some treats, even if he must earn them. However, before he gets started, he checks mom Michelle's hands to ensure they're clean. LOL! Those fluffy paws going up high and down low are cuteness overload! His little brother Ringo has also caught on to this trick, and the moment he hears the bell ring, he patiently waits to perform his high fives, too. These boys are unbelievable! The only trouble with being an exceptional trainer is having your intelligent cats ringing the bell whenever they want a snack. Fortunately, their mom seems up to the task.
Benefits of Teaching Cats Tricks
Just like dogs, kitties also require physical and mental enrichment. According to the Cat School, bored felines can develop problems such as destructive behaviors, weight gain, depression, and other health issues. Spending time training cats to do these activities can give us a better understanding of their personalities, which can ultimately strengthen our bonds. When getting started, they advise choosing tricks that are easy to learn and making sure training sessions are short. It's also essential to provide them with rewards immediately and consistently to ensure they understand the desired behaviors.
These bright and beautiful boys impressed people. Viewer @guus_happy_cat responded, "You have such a good teacher. Ringo is doing such a great job." They are. Another person remarked, "Maine Coons are the best cats!!! They are easy to train like dogs." They might be even easier than some dogs. Viewer @bigtiggs shared, "My Maine Coon is so smart. If I gave him a bell, he would never stop using it. However, the bell would make 4 am easier. Now, he removes the door stop and slams the door to wake us. This would streamline the process for him!" Yikes! Maybe a bell would be better.
If you've ever wanted to teach your cats tricks, Rocco and Ringo can give you some valuable pointers. Just be aware of what their new knowledge might mean for you.
