Mom 'Makes Mice' Under the Blanket For Her Orange Cat and She Can't Get Enough
We do the silliest things to entertain our pets, truly. Things we would absolutely never do in public, like developing little jingles about them or spending upwards of fifteen minutes crafting them beautiful dinner masterpieces that they snarf down without a care in the world.
Sometimes, we do something really silly, like stick our hands under the blankets and whip them around so our cats can pretend they're catching mice. At least one mom did on Wednesday, October 2nd... evidently, she loves it:
Junk's Mom clearly loves this kitty very much. She's smart to cover up with the blanket!
Junk is just about the sweetest cat ever. She's lived with her mom for years, and her mom has plenty of experience with animals; she's worked in several doggy daycares! Doggy daycare life is much different than cat-mom life, though: none of the pups demanded their daily Mousing Hour!
It's super simple and most cats will love it, even if you've never done it before. All you have to do is ball your hands into fists, shove them under a blanket, and pretend they're a mouse. It's guaranteed to keep them occupied for at least five minutes. After that, pull out the laser pointer and they'll be on their way to leaving you alone in no time!
Fun Ways to Keep Indoor Cats Happy
Outdoor cats don't have many advantages, but enrichment is one of them. They get to go outside, where there are lots of things to see and smell and do. Cats typically stay within about a mile of their home at the very most, but a lot can happen in a mile. Indoor cats are safer. and keeping your cat inside is always the better option, but it can get a little boring for them if you're not careful.
In order to keep your cat from going stir crazy, you should try incorporating things like these into their daily routines:
- Walks around the neighborhood (in a stroller, backpack, or on a leash).
- Opening a window so that they can smell and hear things more clearly.
- Spending at least a few minutes every hour that you're home playing with them.
- Swapping out their toys and trees for different ones every few months.
- If you work a lot, investing in a few toys they can play with on their own might be good.
- Getting a pet camera that you can talk to them through during the day.
You can typically find cat accessories for sale on Facebook Marketplace, and regular retailers also usually have sales on those kinds of things. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg making your cat happy... but you might lose one playing mice.
