Piano-Playing Maine Coon Cats Are the Musical Duo Everyone Deserves

They're so talented!

There was a time in the not so distant past when finding out about animals with surprising talents was a rarity. That kind of footage would have to be showcased somewhere like America's Funniest Home Videos or be groundbreaking enough that it was reported on by the local news, but things have changed. No, we are now lucky enough to be living in an age of technology that allows proud pet parents to show off their animals' unique skills to the entire world at the push of a button, and personally, I am so thankful for it.

After all, without the internet, we would never have seen these beautiful Maine Coon cats playing piano. Okay, so the sounds they're making may not technically qualify as music, but if it were up to me, they'd go on a world tour!

On Tuesday, October 8, @sparx_and_spyro shared this video of their silver Maine Coons who decided to try their hand (or paw) at playing piano. Is it just me, or do Sparx and Spyro have a future in the music industry?

There's just one problem: These two may spook too easily to ever spend anytime in a concert venue with good acoustics. After one of the kitties jumped directly up onto the keys of the piano and heard the loud noise it made, they both scattered. Their performances will have to be very short, but there's a good chance that their beautiful faces (and the dramatic exit they both made) will more than make up for it.

I am absolutely not sure how this video hasn't gone viral yet, but surely, it's only a matter of time. These cats are too good!

The Many Talents of Maine Coons

Maine Coon cats are known for being one of the largest breeds of domestic cats (and, in my opinion, one of the most gorgeous), and they don't come up short in the skills department, either.

As the ASPCA points out, Maine Coons are also famous for being good mousers, so not only will they help keep your home pest free, but they will also hunt down a toy with the best of them, so make sure you have plenty available for them!

And unlike most other cat breeds, Maine Coons are also known for their love of water, and they have a water repellant coat that only makaes splashing around more fun for them.

Combine all of that with their size, their beauty, and their easygoing personalities — and the fact that some of them are clearly musical geniuses — and what more could you want in a cat?
