Dog Dad's Explanation of Why His Pup Makes a Bad Guard Dog Is Too Pure
There are some dogs that have the temperament to be a guard dog and then there are others who very much don’t. While there are some characteristics that come with certain dog breeds, this one dog proves that it’s not a given.
On August 7, TikTok user Noah & Lincoln (@noah_and_lincoln) shared a video of his sweet Pit Bull and listed all the reasons why he makes a bad guard dog. His reasons are adorable and pure — take a look!
In a 30-second video, the dog’s dad, Palace Harris, shares three reasons why his pup Lincoln isn’t the best guard dog. Not only are they reasons very specific, but they are adorable, pure, and hilarious.
The first reason is because he “can’t tell the difference between a fake or real owl,” and that point plays on top of a video clip showing Lincoln going after a fake owl at home.
The second reason is more directly related to being a guard dog in that Lincoln will try and give chase to someone who is in the home that shouldn’t bet here. but it’s not very good. “Upon entry he will attempt to give chase and then miss,” the text on the screen reads.
And the third and final reason given is that if you’re in the house and you decide to hide from being caught, Lincoln’s not going to care. “If you decide to hide, he'll never find you,” the video explains.
People took to the comments to stand up for the sweet dog who is trying his best to be a guard dog.
"But he tries so hard! A+ for effort," one person writes.
"He’s so freaking cute! The robber would get caught case they would be playing/petting him," someone else joked.
"It's the effort that matters," shared another.
"His primary job is to look adorable and he's killin' it!" added another.
According to The Farmer's Dog, a Pitbull has a reputation of being a fighting dog but says that's not necessarily a fair representation of the breed.
"Many owners agree, though, that pit bulls are people-oriented, affectionate, and playful," the site explains. "While they’ll adapt their energy levels to their living situation, they’re athletic dogs who do well with ample daily exercise and mental stimulation, and a close eye on diet to avoid weight gain."
