Ragdoll Cat Shows Off New Kittens to Golden Retriever She Grew Up with in Moment of Pure Sweetness

This is just beautiful.

There is real magic in our relationships with our pets, and while we may not always have this top of mind, our pets have connections to each other, too. Some may not be the best of friends and only tolerate each other, but other pet siblings can build a strong bond that lasts beyond a lifetime.

For a sweet Ragdoll cat, she grew up with a Golden Retriever as an older sister, and they're very bonded—so much so that she wanted to make sure her new kittens got to know her charming older sister. The video of their first meeting might be the cutest thing on the planet.

On December 11, 2024, TikTok user Pearl's Ragdolls (@pearlsragdolls) shared the video of her beautiful Ragdoll cat, Josie, who has a touching relationship with her aging older sister, a Golden Retriever named Lucy.

Even right at the start of the video, when the two lie next to each other, our heartstrings are tugged. The sweet senior dog is too cute with her whitening face and the precious cat lightly touching her older sister's arm. And we can't see this too easily in the video, but Josie had her two kittens between her and Lucy.

Then the dog and cat siblings move around and we get a good look at the sweet little Ragdoll kittens. You can see the connection between Josie and Lucy. Cats don't trust just anyone to be around their tiny kittens. This means Josie has a very beautiful bond with her sister, Lucy.

These two touched so many people. One person wrote, "There’s more love and calmness and a Ragdoll cat then there is in 20 humans put together that are also calm Ragdoll wins every time," Another shared, "The frosted face retriever is absolutely so precious," and another joked, "She’s lining up a babysitter."

Are Golden Retrievers Good With Cats?

There's this age-old sentiment that dogs and cats don't and can't get along, but that's not always true. Some dog breeds tend to get along better with cats, while others do not.

According to the American Kennel Club, Golden Retrievers are "known for their playful personalities," which jives well with cats. "They need a good amount of daily exercise, but they are adaptable and outgoing, which makes them potentially great cat companions," the club explains.

PetPlan shares the same thought that a Golden Retriever's temperament makes it easier for them to "get on well with other pets, including cats."

But the relationship still takes some work at first. "Despite their amiable nature, it’s always best to introduce your Golden Retriever to your cat carefully and from a young age if possible to ensure both animals are happy around each other," PetPlan writes.

Goldens are also really good with kids since they have a "soft and gentle nature, combined with their fun-loving personalities," PetPlan explains.

And if they're good with children, being sweet, gentle, understanding, and fun-loving around their presence, we know those kittens Josie is introducing Lucy to will have a beautiful relationship together, too.
