Rare Golden Retriever-Rottweiler Mix Has Everyone Captivated
Some dog mixes blend two beautiful breeds and the end result can be unexpected but exciting. Golden Doodles, Chorkies, and Cockapoo's are among some of the cutest dog mixes out there, but there's one mix that's striking the hearts of many. Such is the case with one Golden Rottweiler named Evie who stands out among the rest.
On June 20, 2024, JUSTJen (@orijenalshortshorts) shared Evie's unique look on TikTok and she's a gorgeous girl. See the captivating video below!
"This is Evie. She’s dramatic. Her mom’s a pure Golden Retriever and dad’s a pure Rottweiler," the caption says to a brief 16-second viral clip that asks, "have you ever seen a Golden Rottweiler?" The video, which has more than 2.1 million likes, opens with a close-up of Evie's golden paws, slowly panning up to her beautiful black and gold mixed coat. It's almost as if someone splattered gold and black paint all over her!
The clip cuts to sweet Evie hanging out and playing with her favorite person, Mom, while happily showing off why she's the coolest new kid on the block. Of the more than 7,500 comments many noted the uncanny way Evie looks like a Golden dressed up as a Rottweiler in (poor) disguise.
"It's like she is undercover as a Rottweiler lol it's adorable," one person said. "A goth golden retriever," another joked. "I love how Rottweiler mixes all just look like whatever the other breed is with a Rott paint job," another added.
How Many Dog Breeds Are There?
The American Kennel Club currently registers 201 dog breeds, but they don't include mixes like Evie. The Retriever was first recognized in 1878 while the Rottweiler didn't make the cut until 1931 making the dynamic duo of breeds somewhat new.
The Golden Rottweiler mix is easy to spot with the body and fur length of a Golden and blotted color pattern of a Rottweiler. They're incredibly unique in that their temperament takes on the best qualities of both breeds so if you adopt one, you can count on them being highly intelligent, friendly, loyal dogs. Just remember their both also large breeds so take into account how much weight you can handle when they're begging for treats.
