Rescue Pit Bull Falls in Love With Steve From 'Blue's Clues' Like the Sweetest Boy
Everyone has a comfort show from their childhood. We tend to pass it on to the kids in our lives, whether it's our own kids, younger siblings, or even nieces and nephews. Interestingly, though, sometimes it's our dogs who end up loving them most of all.
On Wednesday, October 9th, one recently rescued Pit Bull was enjoying some TV time with his new forever family when they turned on something to see if he'd like it. Immediately, one thing became clear: he and Steve from Blue's Clues are besties for life!
Dear Max the Rescue Pit, if it doesn't work out between you and Steve, please consider this my application to be your new bestie. I'll bring treats and show you my childhood comfort show, Oswald!
Max was born in 2018, and was in and out of the shelter until 2023, when his forever family took it in. Since then, he's been learning how to be a dog: he gets lots of toys, snuggles, and he has his own spot on the couch with a perfect view of the TV.
Max has good taste: anyone who grew up with Blue's Clues knows that Steve is the best one. His presence is just very comforting, and while Joe was pretty good... it was never the same. Apparently, he also loves to see Blue herself! He'll watch for a long time, which is perfect for anxious pups like him. Comfort shows are great to throw on when you're leaving.
Putting the TV on Can Help Dogs' Separation Anxiety
Whether you've got a pandemic pup who never quite learned the ropes of puppyhood or a rescue with some separation anxiety, it's always good to know ways to soothe our furry friends. Even if your dog doesn't have anxiety, leaving a show on for them is a great way to occupy them if they start getting restless.
Dogs don't like it when things are too quiet around them. They prefer to have some kind of noise, or they might start to feel threatened. When you have to leave them home alone, turning on the TV is a perfect way to break the silence and give them something to look at throughout the day. There are a few tried-and-true TV shows that seem to be easy favorites:
- Bluey
- Blue's Clues
- Bear in the Big Blue House (I haven't thought about this show in forever!)
- "Outdoor" Youtube videos of birds and wildlife
- Aquarium and zoo livestreams
It might take a little while to find your dog's personal favorite, but you'll get there. Luckily for Max's family... his favoritism is a little obvious. He's just like the rest of us!
