Rescue Pug Coming Out of Her Shell After Realizing She's 'Home' Is So Beautiful

She's in the most loving arms!

Rescuing a dog who is in need of a forever home is such a beautiful thing to do. While it can certainly be a bit of an adjustment at first — and of course, all dogs are different — there are also so many rewarding moments along the way. Depending on what your pup's life was like before you found each other, they may have some trauma to overcome as they settle into their new lives where they are finally safe and cared for as they should have been all along, but seeing them transform is such a special thing to witness.

One family is having that experience right now and has been kind enough to share the sweetest moments on their journey with the world. This dog might not have had the easiest start to her life, but she's finally finding her voice!

This video features Dory, the sweet Pug who was recently adopted by the famous Doug the Pug's parents, Leslie Mosier and Rob Chianelli. Here, we can see Dory exercising that voice now that she's starting to get comfy in her new home, and it's too cute to hear those little "roo" sounds.

In the video, Dory's new humans shared that she was abandoned in a field before a rescue organization was able to take her in and eventually connect her with them. But now, she "knows she is home."

"Doug's new little sister Dory is coming out of her shell more and more each day," they shared in the caption. "We feel so lucky to show her the love she deserves."

It looks like Dory feels lucky to have found Leslie and Rob — and her new big brother Doug, who's sitting nearby, watching Dory practice her bark!

Introducing Dory the Pug

Doug's parents introduced Dory to the world last week by sharing the sweetest video of their family (Pug included) meeting her at the airport for the very first time.

It seems like she's fit in seamlessly with their family, especially where Doug is concerned. In one slideshow they shared after her adoption, it's pretty clear that these two are already besties (and even wearing coordinated outfits). Doug has always seemed like a pretty chill dude, so it's no wonder he's been so welcoming to the new kid.

We also got to see Dory's first bath since coming home, and this little lady really seemed to enjoy her spa day. She definitely seems to be settling into her new home well.

I can't wait for more updates on Dory. She's ended up with the best possible family!
