Senior Yorkie Who Still Looks Like a Puppy Has People Totally Amazed
As a parent, watching your dog grow up can be such a joy, but also bring so much heartbreak along with it. It's fun to see how quickly they learn new skills and how big they get, but over the years, that also means watching them get older, knowing that you're getting closer to the time when you'll have to say goodbye to your best friend. They start to slow down a bit, and one of the most obvious signs of aging in dogs is the same as it is in people: their appearance starts to change.
For many dogs, this means getting a bit gray in the face, and some fur will even go white. That's right, not even dogs get to escape gray hairs as they age. Well, except for the Yorkie in this TikTok video, because despite the fact that he is a little old man these days, he also hasn't lost his puppy face!
In this video shared by @katsutheyorkie, we get a peek at the birthday boy himself: a Yorkshire Terrier who is celebrating his 14 and a half birthdays, since they're all worth celebrating, as his mom points out.
But despite the fact that he's nearly 15 years old, he doesn't look a day over the puppy stage. It's probably because of that youthful face, if you ask me — and can we talk about that adorable tongue hanging out of his mouth?!
At his age, he's earned all kinds of respect, so I'm glad his humans wanted to celebrate his half birthday and that he got a bowl of special doggie birthday cookies to mark the occasion. He might be getting up there in years, but nobody is ever too old for cookies.
Though he looks young, it seems like he may not feel young. In the comments, his mom explained that he is dealing with impaired hearing and vision and no longer has his teeth, but he seems to be trucking along just fine.
More About Katsu the Yorkie
According to what Katsu's mom, Christine Hsu, told The Dodo, she adopted him when he was just 11 months old and secretly hid him in her dorm. Once she was found out, he went to live with her parents, who tried to keep him after she graduated, though she struggled for the few years they were apart — and I can't blame her, because look at that face!
He's gained well over 200,000 followers on TikTok, so she's clearly not the only one who adores him. And despite his age, she's working to make sure Katsu lives a full and adventurous life.
"I try to take him everywhere with us," Hsu told the site."He goes on road trips, he loves going on walks — he's a very good walker — he goes on bike rides a lot, and we've done a lot of hiking this year."
Good for Katsu and his mom! May he have more birthdays in his future.
