Tuxedo Cat's Cozy Toe Bean Stretches are the Perfect Midday Reset

We all needed that.

Toe beans are like, the second best part of owning a cat... after biscuits, of course, which are pretty toe-bean-adjacent. They're everywhere, on all cat-lovers' items, on toys, in pictures; you name it, there's probably a cat paw with toe beans on it.

On November 25th, one Tuxedo cat took to TikTok to show everyone, and specifically Taylor Swift, his toe bean stretches. They are definitely thoroughly stretched, and super cute to boot:

Harvey the Tuxedo cat has the sweetest toe beans and he's a Swiftie. I truly don't think there's a more perfect cat in the world!

Harvey is still just a baby: he went to his forever home in early September as a kitten, and that's where he's been ever since. He has some cat siblings and even a human baby sibling, but he definitely has that "youngest child" energy, and he probably will even if he gets another sibling down the line. You can just tell that he'll be the baby forever.

As he's grown up, Harvey has made one thing exceedingly clear to everyone who lays eyes on him: he loves to stretch, and he loves it when his toe beans are all on full display. He works overtime at the biscuit factory and makes good use of all of his feet all the time. Stranger? Biscuits. Mom? Biscuits. Sibling? Biscuits!

Why Do Cats Even Have Toe Beans?

Cats are famous for their beans, but they're not the only animal that has them: dogs, lions, and foxes all have them, too. In case you were wondering, the technical term for these sweet little things is actually "digital pads," because they're pads on their digits, and it makes sense, but still, not as cute!

Cats, dogs, and other animals have toe beans as a result of evolution. Though they might look cute, that's not why they have them, it's just a bonus! Cats' toe beans are actually surprisingly useful:

  1. They help cats balance and get a sense of the ground under their feet.
  2. The beans absorb shocks from high jumps and protect their fragile foot bones.
  3. They have scent glands in them that help mark their territory (Frito paws, anyone?).
  4. Toe beans are one of the only ways cats can expel heat; they sweat!

Toe beans are an extremely important part of a cat's body, and without them, they can seriously suffer in a variety of ways. That's why it's important to keep them protected, and if you have a long-haired cat, you might need to keep their fur trimmed around them!
