Wobbly-Hipped White Cat Joins Bubble Blowing Party Much to Delight of Rescuers

They were so happy!

A beautiful, wobbly-hipped white cat has finally figured out how to participate in the bubble blowing parties, and it's so sweet.

On September 28, 2024, the Rescue House in San Diego, California, shared a video on social media, introducing everyone to an adorable cat who has figured out how to play with bubbles. Take a look!

On Instagram, the Rescue House (@therescuehouse) introduced us to a beautiful cat named Nova.

"A sweet story to start off your weekend," the video's caption reads. In the clip, we see a group of cats who are all hanging out together and playing with bubbles.

"We were all doing bubble enrichment when I noticed something," the text on the video reads. There were several cats playing, some who were just watching everything play out. But there was also a cute white cat named Nova who was "trying to play."

Nova didn't really seem to understand the game at first, and "his wibbly hips made tit challenging to keep up."

But Nova didn't give up. He took time to watch, and while he was "just meowing and yelling at the bubbles," at first, things changed.

"Eventually, we understood that it was his way of saying 'give me a chance,' but due to a painless congenital issue, he is quite wobbly, and jumping high to catch is challenging," the caption of the video explained.

Since he was playing bubbles with the other cats, who were "much faster," Nova struggled to get in there. But "he never lets it get him down."

The two-year-old cat kept watching the other cats play, and "with some practice, he finally got the hang of it." He just needed to find a way to help stabilize his hips while he went after the bubbles, and he figured that out.

"He learned that using the support of a cat tree helps him attain the balance he needs," the caption explained. And now he's a "pro" like the other cats and has so much fun playing, too.

In the comments, people were happy to cheer Nova on and salute his perseverance.

One wrote, "I've got a wobbly cat as well. Her name is Waddlebutt. She's getting stronger and more secure every day."

Another shared, "Please tell Nova that I think they did a fantastic job and that I'm proud of them."

Someone added, "He is one of the sweetest most determined boys. [His] uniqueness and big heart is beyond measure. Love that special boy."

One said, "Another day crying over a random animal on the internet."

Someone explained, "I volunteer at a Petsmart rescue location and was just thinking our cats would like to chase something besides the escaped crickets that sometimes get in."

How to Use Bubbles to Play With Your Cat

Many of us may assume that playing with bubbles is something we reserve for when we're outside with our kids but this fun activity can be really great for our pets too, including cats.

According to Crazy Cat Lady, bubbles are a really fun activity for cats and have many benefits.

"Bubble play can offer numerous benefits for cats, positively impacting their physical, mental, and emotional well-being," the site explains. And one of the biggest benefits is all the physical exercise cats get when swatting, leaping, chasing, and jumping at the bubbles floating through the air.

"Bubble play also contributes to cats’ mental and emotional health," Crazy Cat Lady continues. "The unpredictable nature of bubbles stimulates their curiosity and cognitive abilities, keeping their minds sharp and engaged."

We're happy to watch Nova play with bubbles all day.
