Yorkie’s Surprise Visit to Dad at Work Sparks the Purest Joy

She was overcome with excitement!

When you have to have a job, there are little things that help take it from bearable to good, and from good to great. For example, a little bit of praise never hurts. Banana bread in the break room? Heck yeah. Bring your dog to work day? It doesn't get better than that.

Recently, one dog mom took her Yorkie to surprise her dad at work. Luckily for him, he own his own business, so everyday could be bring your dog to work day... but this day was truly extra special:

Elsie the Yorkshire Terrier would be the best mid-workday surprise, seriously. I work from home and am in fact surrounded by all three of my dogs at this very moment, but they're not quite as cute and dainty as she is!

Elsie is only two years old, and she's already a star: she has 20,000 followers on TikTok, and another 19,000 on Instagram: everyone just adores her! She loves to go for walks in her stroller, play with her friends, and take naps in nice sun spots around the house.

Of course, whenever she can, she also loves to surprise her dad on trips to his shop. He runs a model train store, which is just about the most fun job of all time. Since he runs the store himself, he gets to decide if it's okay for Elsie to come in... which, of course, it always is. Who wouldn't want to see that sweet little face?!

Yorkies Are Adventurous Pups

Elsie absolutely never minds going out to visit with her friends, her dad, or even to visit with the strangers that she undoubtedly considers her adoring fans. As it turns out, Yorkies in general are pretty adventurous!

Despite being small, many Yorkies don't mind adventures, unfamiliar places, or even being alone for a time. They can definitely be anxious, but taking them out especially when they're young is the best way to make sure they're well-equipped to handle public interaction. In addition to actual adventure outside, many Yorkies enjoy "adventurous" things, like:

  1. Trying new foods.
  2. Making "obstacle courses" out of things in your home.
  3. Playing with toys that are probably not meant for their breed.
  4. Greeting guests that come in, even if they've never met them.
  5. Sniffing out "intruders" (mostly bugs) (even if we wish they didn't).

While, understandable, we might not always want our Yorkies to be as adventurous as they are, it's important to encourage the behavior whenever it's safe and appropriate to do so. Otherwise, they might turn anxious, and that can genuinely be much harder to deal with!
